What does durometer mean on the wheel?
Last Updated: 08/23/2011
Each wheel is assigned a number called a "durometer". The lower the durometer the softer the wheel. The higher the durometer the harder or firmer the wheel. When outdoor skating you should use a wheel with a durometer of 88A or less. For general rink skating you should use a wheel that has a durometer of around 95A. An indoor wheel that has a durometer of 94A or less has more grip and a wheel of 95A or higher is considered to be more firm.
